Biography

Cynthia Grady, with more than 25 years of legal experience, advises and represents public and private school systems with a diverse range of education law matters from constitutional issues affecting public institutions to school district liability to public financing.  Cynthia regularly presents information on school law topics to teachers, school administrators, board members, and other school attorneys.   She is a member of the North Carolina School Boards Association, the National School Boards Association, the North Carolina Council of School Attorneys, the National Council of School Attorneys and the North Carolina Association of Community College Attorneys. Among Cynthia's many professional accomplishments, she has helped secure more than $100 million in financing for school construction.

Cynthia also has extensive expertise in transactional business law for public and non-profit clients in the areas of housing, real estate, and construction.  She has structured, negotiated and drafted low-income housing tax partnerships, management and joint venture agreements, and has represented public housing authorities in the issuance of tax-exempt bonds.  Cynthia represents owners, developers, and general contractors in all aspects of building and renovation projects, from contract negotiations to dispute resolution, while remaining focused on obtaining the best outcome for her clients.  Cynthia prides herself on her responsiveness to client needs and using her creativity to problem-solve with her clients.

Cynthia is a partner of the firm originally from Ohio (attending Ohio State University), she began her career in Texas after graduating cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center. She has resided in Asheville, practicing at Roberts & Stevens, for over a decade.
