Sarah
Patterson ("Patsy") Brison
Patsy Brison is a partner at Roberts
& Stevens bringing more than 28 years of legal expertise in
matters of local government law, construction law, and zoning and land
use law.
Representing the public and private sector, she has a diverse clientele
that includes government and individual property owners, contractors
and
subcontractors.
Patsy is a seasoned litigator, appearing at
all levels of state and federal court as well as before
various city and county boards and commissions. When disputes can be
settled
out of court, Patsy is certified as a Superior Court mediator by the
N.C.
Dispute Resolution Commission and successfully represents clients in
alternative dispute resolution through mediation and arbitration.
Patsy
continues to be an inspiration to many women within the legal
profession. Her passion as an attorney
and commitment to serving others naturally flows from her long history
of
community service. She has been involved with the Girl Scouts at both
the
national and local levels, is a member of the North Carolina
Association of Women
Attorneys and is also an ordained elder of the Presbyterian Church of
the USA.
Experience

administrative hearings before
planning and zoning boards, boards of adjustment, and boards of tax
equalization and review
- Successfully represented local
governments in appeals to N.C.
appellate courts and before the Federal Court of Appeals and
successfully defended a petition to the U.S. Supreme Court
- Successfully represented a general
contractor who received a jury verdict of no negligence
- Successfully represented a school board
who received a jury verdict of no negligence
- Currently serves as Town Attorney for
Weaverville, North Carolina
(since 2007); more than 16 years of experience representing the City of
Asheville, North Carolina, as Assistant City Attorney (1983-2000)
- Assisted local governments in a variety
of matters, including
ordinance drafting, municipal financing, local government property
acquisition and conveyances
- Represents Kenilworth Residents
