Roberts & Stevens attorney Susan Russo Klein becomes Board Certified Employment Law Specialist in North Carolina

Roberts & Stevens partner Susan Russo Klein recently joined the ranks of Board Certified Employment Law Specialists, a designation of the North Carolina State Bar that provides formal recognition of an attorney’s expertise in a specific field of law. This rare achievement is only held by 3.5% of attorneys in North Carolina.

Board certification is awarded only to attorneys who meet the highest standards of their profession. Candidates must be vetted by their peers, demonstrate years of concentrated practice in their specialization and pass a comprehensive exam covering the complexities of the field. Eligibility also demands a deep, sustained commitment to the practice in recent years, including an average of at least 700 hours per year devoted to employment law and 36 hours of specialized continuing legal education.

With the firm since 2019, Russo Klein counsels employers on compliance, training and workforce strategy, and she defends organizations in labor audits, discrimination and retaliation claims and other employment-related disputes. She has been named among “The Best Lawyers in America” and among Business North Carolina magazine’s “Legal Elite” for many years. Currently, Russo Klein serves as the president of the Buncombe County Bar for the 2025-2026 term.

“I’m honored to work with such a talented and supportive group of attorneys and staff at Roberts & Stevens,” said Russo Klein. “Their encouragement was integral to my earning this certification, and I look forward to continuing to advise our clients in complex employment matters as an Employment Law Specialist.”
