Roberts & Stevens Partner Ann-Patton Hornthal presents at Lawyers Mutual Liability Company of North Carolina’s Annual Seminar

Ann-Patton HornthalRoberts & Stevens partner Ann-Patton Hornthal presented at Lawyers Mutual Liability Insurance Company of N.C.’s annual CLE program on October 30 at the DoubleTree Biltmore hotel. This annual seminar is presented for attorneys insured by Lawyers Mutual as well as their paralegals and staff.

The interactive workshop from Lawyers Mutual and ReelTime CLE titled, “The Accidental Lawyer” — Terms of Engagement, is designed to help lawyers be more alert to the vulnerabilities they may face in various non-office settings and to equip them with best practices for defining their roles up front and setting clear boundaries with the person seeking advice.

Lawyers Mutual and ReelTime CLE presented a live, interactive workshop entitled, “The Accidental Lawyer” — Terms of Engagement, designed to help lawyers be more alert to the vulnerabilities they may face in various non-office settings and to equip them with best practices for defining their roles up front and setting clear boundaries with the person seeking advice. Hornthal, along with Mark A. Scruggs, Senior Claims Counsel for Lawyers Mutual, followed the presentation with a roundtable question and answer session with the participants in the workshop.  

Hornthal is devoted to handling litigation and pre-litigation matters on behalf of commercial clients in complex trial, regulatory, and appellate matters in state and federal courts and licensing boards, with an emphasis on professional liability defense and commercial disputes. She represents clients in healthcare, legal, manufacturing, alternative-energy, and law enforcement sectors. She devotes a substantial portion of her practice to appellate work. During her career, Hornthal has been involved with the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of North Carolina and the Harry C. Martin Inns of Court, having served in numerous leadership positions.
